My training, background, approach and interests...
Jyotiṣa refers to what many people are calling Vedic astronomy or “astrology,” which is not exactly the right word. The word jyoti means light, and Jyotiṣa is reverently called “the Eye of the Vedas,” or the eye of the sacred texts of India. I have been a devoted student of Jyotiṣa Vidyā since 1995. I have been dedicated to the sādhana, study, and daily routine required to practice this Vidyā (science) ever since my first trip to India in 1996. Jyotiṣa Vidyā is a gift that may offer deeper insight into one’s life and aid svādhyāya (self-study, introspection, and/or accompaniment to serious study of sacred scriptures).
In my early twenties, I moved from the USA to live with my teacher in Maharashtra, India (not far from Pune), after going to see him multiple times in my late teens. My college years were spent caring for his daily medical needs, helping with correspondence, and attending to the many menial tasks required for the running of a charitable trust.
During this time, he encouraged my continued study of Sanskrit, Mantra Śāstra (science of sound), Jyotiṣa Śāstra, and Ayurveda (natural medicine). Although he did not encourage me to pursue Ayurveda as a profession, he specifically asked that I actively practice Jyotiṣa. Since his passing in 2013, I have continued to follow his request by offering my skills and knowledge to those who seek to learn Jyotiṣa. My background is rooted primarily in sevā (simple service), alongside many years immersed in the practical application of Jyotiṣa. I consider myself a life-long student.
Wildlife is an additional devotion of mine and I have pursued certifications in safely relocating venomous snakes and reptiles, which I am passionate about. Many of them are punished due to our primal fear and this has informed, enhanced and illumined my understanding of why ancient civilizations had such deep respect for these creatures. I am also a life-long devotee of Yoga Śāstra, which I often incorporate into my understanding of Jyotiṣa.
During our session together, I offer my services only as a translator of the blueprint of your unique moment of birth. I will not assume the role of a guru. Out of respect for your sovereignty on your life path, I will not interfere in life decisions or engage in dogmatic advice giving. Please approach our session as a chance to enhance your svādhyāya and it may provide you with greater self-clarity. I do not recommend gemstones or sell pricey remedies. If this is what you are looking for I may not be your Jyotishi. As a translator, I recognize that I am not all-knowing and I thank you in advance for your understanding that this sacred Vidya is a language that I will interpret for you, to the best of my abilities.
